My City New Mobile Simulation Game in 2025 Full Reviews
Have you ever wanted to build your own city, from a simple settlement to a modern metropolis? But without the stress, politics, and without having to be a real mayor? If so, My City by Reiner Knizia might be the perfect choice .
This game is not just about arranging buildings on a board. It's a story of the evolution of a city, which develops slowly from episode to episode. And what's interesting, every decision we make leaves a permanent mark, just like writing the history of our own city.
**Gameplay: Building, Managing, and Growing**
At its core, My City is a tile placement game, where each player has the same board, and turn by turn, they place buildings according to the cards that are drawn . The shape of the buildings varies, like Tetris pieces, and their placement is not random: buildings must touch existing ones, cannot cross rivers, and must follow certain space rules.
Sounds simple? Yes. But like a growing city, the game also evolves. From one episode to the next, new rules are introduced. We might start with just arranging houses, and then suddenly face churches, factories, or even environmental rules that add a new layer of strategy.
Each episode only takes about 20-30 minutes, so it's quick and easy . However, don't be fooled by its duration, our decisions in one session can affect the game in the next session. After each chapter, we even get to stick permanent stickers on our board. Our city board will become unique, different from other players. And when the campaign is over? No worries. There's an Eternity mode, where we can keep playing without ruining the board or story.
**Theme & Story: Not About Drama, But About Progress**
There's no main character, no deep narrative, and no epic conflict. But My City still has a story, a story of growth.
Each chapter represents a new era in development: from the early days of settlement, to agriculture, and industrialization. We'll experience the transition of time through the types of buildings and new rules that emerge, not through long texts or cutscenes.
The theme is simple, but that's where its beauty lies. It feels like watching a small city we built ourselves grow naturally .
