Crunchyroll : ExZeus The Complete Collection New Mobile Android Game in 2025 Updated Full Review

ExZeus: The Complete Collection brings together two classic rail shooters — ExZeus and ExZeus 2 — that originally blew up on arcades and mobile. The gameplay's all about fast-paced action and endless waves of enemies in an on-rails shooter style, where you're automatically moving through levels while blasting stuff, dodging attacks, and popping off special moves in a badass robot suit.

You get to pick from three mechs, each with their own unique powers. Your arsenal includes regular bullets, lasers, and homing missiles. Grab power-ups and coins from enemies to level up your mech and boost your firepower. ExZeus 2 spices things up with some hack-and-slash segments and even lets you ride vehicles, which keeps the gameplay from getting too samey.

Story? Yeah, It's There

The story’s nothing groundbreaking — aliens invade, humanity’s screwed, and our only hope is some high-powered mechs. Super basic, and honestly just an excuse to keep the action rolling. Don’t expect deep lore or emotional cutscenes — you’ll get a few lines of text and that’s it.

Graphics

Since these games dropped in the early 2000s and 2012, the visuals definitely feel dated. The remaster cleans things up a bit, but it’s still pretty blocky. Explosions and lasers look flashy enough for arcade vibes, but character models and environments? Kinda janky and low on detail. Still, if you're into that retro-futuristic, neon-heavy look, it’s got charm.

Level Design

Levels are built for non-stop action with zero exploration — classic rail shooter style. You’re locked into a path, facing off against waves of enemies, dodging obstacles, and duking it out with bosses at the end of each stage. The downside? It gets a bit repetitive after a while. Same enemy patterns, same boss tricks — though ExZeus 2 tries to mix things up with ground fights and flying bike segments.

Genre & Gameplay Style

It’s a mashup of rail shooter, mecha action, and some hack-and-slash thrown in (ExZeus 2 only). If you grew up on games like Panzer Dragoon, Star Fox, or Space Harrier, this one’s gonna hit that nostalgia button hard.

Difficulty

Not gonna lie, it’s a bit tough. Enemy patterns get wild, and the controls can feel clunky sometimes — especially when you need precision. Boss fights can feel kinda unfair too, thanks to the lack of checkpoints. Mess up, and you’re replaying a big chunk. Brutal.
